HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE WRITERS (HEWs) – PART 2

Have you ever read a post, article or book that you wished never ended? If yes, then that piece must have been crafted by a Highly Effective Writer. But what if you could write such a script that inspires people greatly to buy into your ideas?

Here are some other secret habits that Highly Effective Writers utilize to do so:

Habit 4.They write on subjects they know about Applying Jesus' principle, "We speak only of what we [absolutely] know ..." (John 3:10), Highly Effective Writers stay within the boundaries of their authority gained by knowledge and mastery of specific subjects. That’s why writing is not just about pen and paper; in fact, thorough research might take more time than the writing itself. Because HEWs know and esteem the power of their pen, they don't attempt to confuse or mislead people by pretending to know everything and arguing ignorantly in their writing. They also understand that their creative juice flows much more easily when they write in the area of their expertise.

Habit 5. They write for their audienceHEWs don’t just write about their interests, they write to meet the need of their audience. Like tailors measure clients before sewing and doctors perform diagnosis on patients before prescribing medication, Highly Effective Writers study their audience before writing to them: by using demographical analysis to know the age, sex, race, profession, education level, religion, etc. of their audience, they are able to write custom-made scripts that makes people scream after reading “This was just for me!”

Habit 6. They befriend their dictionariesUnlike their average counterparts, Highly Effective Writers never outgrow the use of their dictionary. They perpetually depend on their dictionary for many reasons: first, it helps them to know the meaning of words, phrases and idioms, especially new ones. Second, they use it to ‘taste’ words which are close in meaning, and choose the most suitable for the context which they write. Third, it helps them to check spellings and grammar in order to produce error-free scripts. These are a few; you will discover more as you progress in your writing adventure.

When you use the right words to write on a subject you know much about for a people you know much about, your script will become their bible!

There is no better time to start writing ... think it, ink it!
